What Is Love?

Hey guys :)

Me and my youth (Resolved) are currently in a discussion about "what is love?" Not the ooey gooey feeling thing you have for someone. Like the TRUE definition. So I thought I'd interview a few kids from my school and ask them a simple question, "What's your definition of love?" and put it all in one video. I finally finished it and I thought you guys would like to see it. Here ya go!

video

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." That is the biggest act of love. 1 John says, "Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love." Well that just says it right there. God is love. And I think sometimes we can lose sight of that. It's important for us to stop and think about it. Christ died on the cross, for US. When we were in our darkest hour, when we were drowning in our sin, He DIED...for US. That is love. That shows God's love. That He would send his only son to die for us. It's just amazing, and hard to even comprehend sometimes that He would do that. I can't think of any other way to say it.

Well I hope that was encouraging for you guys. Let me know what you think of the video!

Love y'all,
Kayla :)

"All things done in ten points are things well done"

Mariah, that title was for you by the way. I hope you see it. ;)

Wow. I'm the worst bloggerer person in the world. I've been so stinkin' busy I haven't had anytime to make a blog post (I know that's my excuse every time. But this time, I really was haha).

This year has been pretty amazing so far. School has been crazy busy...and you'll probably think I'm a nerd for saying this but, I like it. I actually think school is pretty fun :).
So Friday started out with Indoor Percussion practice, which was really terrible for me because I was failing at playing the music. My band teacher wants me to play the tenor drums (the ones with 5-6 little drums on them), so I told her I didn't have the time to learn another instrument because I'm too busy and she said ok, but then I was given a tenor part. Bleh. Oh well :P... Then the rest of the night I played my saxophone (I don't remember if I told you guys I was learning to play it?..) and talked to some people on facebook. But I didn't do that much because everyone in my family was gone. It was a wee bit scary cuz I live in a creepy-ish neighborhood....

On Saturday, my PLAN was to wake up at 8:00 and finish all of my homework early. But nope. Once again I turned off my alarm and woke up 4 hours later. I hate it when I do that :P. Then around 3ish I went to Gilland's and hung out with Alli while she was practicing for her UF audition this Saturday (and she sounds amazing and I'm pretty positive she'll get in. The people would have to be CRAZY not to let her) while I did 23 biology note cards. It doesn't sound like a lot...but it really was, lol. After we both finished studying, we made homemade pizza while watching The Last Song. It was good, but I just don't like it because Miley Cyrus is in it. Ang came home later (which of course happened to be right when we finished making the pizza. Coincidence? ;) ). Pretty much the whole night we were acting really insane/crazy and yelling at each other (but in like a joking way), which poor Mariah had to suffer through in a video we posted on her facebook. "WHAT'S BEING MADE LOUD AND CLEAR!!!!!!" ;-) It was a lot of fun though :). Hopefully she doesn't think we're completely out of our minds and will still be friends with us. haha ;)

Sunday, we had church, and the message and worship were really awesome! Mr. Gilland spoke since my dad was in GA. He did a great job! Afterwards was followed by Zaxby's and going back to the church to do more homework.
Then there was the Superbowl. I'm really not into football, so I was sort of just going for whoever. But the half-time show...ewww. The singing was terrible, but the dancing and all the crazy techno lights were awesome! Did any of you guys watch the game?

Yeahh sorry if that was a long and boring post. That was all I could think of writing about.

Oooh my stars in the sky...I almost forgot to say something. I've already told some of you, but for those of you who don't know...I'm coming to Daytona in 18 DAYS!! I'm so stinkin' excited! And I might be going to soccer that sunday so I'd get to see all of you!! I can't wait!!

Love ya'll!

PK Yonge Marching Show '10

Hello :)
I know I told you a while back I'd post a video of our marching show, and it's finally here! Unfortunately, my dad accidentally taped over the end of it, which happens to be the best part because...well it's the end and the end is always the best, haha :).

This is from the FMBC State Championship. We got 7th place out of 21 bands, but we needed 5th to go to finals :'(... But I still think we did pretty good. Hope you like it!!! P.S. You can give me feedback on what you thought of it...well you don't have to, but if there was something that was absolutely disastrous and it was just bugging you to tell me, then go ahead. ;-)

Oh and one more thing...after you watch the show, go to about 2:42-245 into the video. Me and the bass drummers yelled something after the drum break (haha yes we're weird like that). I will seriously give you 2,000 Skittle points if you can guess what we said. (Hint: it's a food) teeeheee good luck :D

Family Update

So I know a lot of you have been wandering about my family, how they're doing, if they're married, what college they go to, etc. I thought I would just do a post about my family so you can read it and see lovely pictures of them, yay! :) So, for those of you who don't know....

Stephen is married and now lives in Ft. Myers with his beautiful wife, Kristen (my amazing sister-in-law). He works at an IT company called Gartner and Kristen is a third grade teacher at...a school that I don't know the name of. And by the way, they take the cutest pictures ever! I love them :)

Brandon lives in Orlando and goes to UCF. He works at a restaurant called Brios (which apparently is really nice and super delicous :), and he has a girlfriend named Annie. They also take really adorable pictures :)

Tyler lives in Atlanta, GA (so far away :( ) and goes to Oglethorpe University to play college basketball. He has a girlfriend and her name is Hailey, but unfortunately she lives in Naples, FL and goes to FGCU which is about 9 hours away from GA. And they ALSO take adorable pictures, haha :)

And I just have to post this one of them because it's super cute

Zach lives here in Gainesville with me and my parents. He duel-enrolls at Santa Fe Community College and plays basketball/lacrosse at P.K. And he's the cutest little big brother I have :)

And me, well you probably know already, but I go to P.K. Yonge DRS in Gainesville. I'm in the marching/concert band there, and I'll be duel-enrolling at Santa Fe next year as well.

I thought this was a pretty neat picture. FMBC State Championship 11/20/10 Photo Credit: Jolesch Photography

And finally, my parents (Phil and Kay). They are happily married and have been for 26 years. My dad, as most of you know, is the pastor of Abundant Grace Community Church, and he's the coolest dad you could ever have. And my mom, well...she's just absolutely amazing! I love her dearly :)

Wow...that was a long post. I hope you liked it!

Love you all,
Kayla :)

"It's the most wonderful time of the year"

Can I just start out by saying that Celtic Thunder is even more amazing live?
Oh my stars, I've never been to a concert like that before. Pure awesomeness and talent right there! "It's the truth. Boom" ;)
I think that was like the best day of my life <3. I had so much fun hanging out with Kayla, Kaylee, Mariah, Carly, and Tori! It was so amazing :) especially, since we got to meet Damian and Keith!! That made me like even more ooober happy. I can't believe it...I'm still in a daze, like...did that really just happen? Oh man, I will nnevvaaa evvvaaaa forget that day. :)

Here's a picture of us by their tour bus. We're such stalkers...haha ;)

One of my many favorite quotes from this weekend:
"Keith come back!! And bring Damian with you!!!" haha I love you Kayla xD

Well I need to sleep. I don't even know why I'm awake right now, lol.
Love you all!

A Musical November

Well, the time has finally come. FMBC (Florida Marching Band Competition) finals is in 2 days, Celtic Thunder is in 8 days...mmmhhmm. Probably one of the most musically filled months I've had this year! But I love it a lot :)

I'm really supaaa dupaaa excited because after Thanksgiving break my friend is going to teach me how to play the alto saxophone! WOO!! I seriously cannot contain my happiness right now...I've always wanted to play the sax :D :D :D

Anyways, I wanted to ask you all to pray for our marching band this Saturday. State finals is like....the biggest event for marching bands (besides Nationals...but that's a different story). First they'll have prelims, then they pick the top 5 in each class to go to finals in the Tropicana Dome in Tampa that same day. There are 32 1A bands........32. Holy cheese tacos.
So as you can see I'm kind of nervous if we're going to make finals or not. Please please pray that we make it to finals. It's a really big deal to play in the Dome and it would be an awesome experience for our band.

Thank you guys so much!! Your prayers are very much appreciated!

Love you all,
Kayla :D

I can't really think of anything to write today so I'm just going to list random updates of my week (if I'm boring you with my posts, please tell me, haha)...

Halloween!!

We had our last neighborhood photo shoot with the Taulbee's :(...I'm going to miss them like crazy :(

Today me and my friend Erin made a plant cell for our Edible Cell Project in Bio

AAAANNNDDD in less than 22 days is the most amazing day of this year because I get to see Celtic Thunder, Kaylee, Kayla, Mariah, Carly, and Tori!! Not to mention Thanksgiving Day is the day before the concert. Can it get more amazing than that? I'm so stinkin' excited!! :D

Well that's all I have for know.

P.S. Carly did I make any grammatical errors or am I good? ;)
